150 things about me you might not know
And might not want to know:-)
This started as a college project and I stumbled upon it again recently. These are things that often have stories or more information attached- they are great conversation starters-so feel free to ask;-)
1.) I LOVE being a Suzy home maker. I love to cook, bake, sew, quilt, scrapbook, and photography. Most of all- I love God, my husband, my kids, my family and my friends (In that order;-)
2.) I was born on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio
3.) Grew up in the military and never lived anywhere very long.
4.) My Oldest son has lived in 4 houses by the time he was 3.
5.) My first car was a 73 Super-beetle that I bought with my own money when I was 14 (took 2 years of hard work to make it drivable)
6.) I am the youngest of 4 kids.
7.) I have 18 nieces and nephews.
8.) I have never had any (confirmed) broken bones.
9.) I LOVE to play card and board games- consider myself a “Game Geek”.
10.) I LOVE to dance especially swing.
11.) I would love to live in Europe.
12.) I am Pro-Life
13.) I am a born-again Christian
14.) I voted for Bush 2 times- and am proud of it.
15.) My favorite TV shows are Friends and the old west wing
16.) I still hope to be in politics some day
17.) My mother is Canadian
18.) I am a card carrying Republican, but NEVER vote strictly party.
19.) My Favorite season is spring followed closely by fall.
20.) I would love to live on the east coast.
21.) I do not swear
22.) I love to read almost anything- thought due to circumstances (2 children under 3)- the last thing I read was the directions on the rice
23.) I taught my Niece to quilt this summer
24.) I like rain, but only if I get to stay in bed and snuggle during the rain
25.) I really do NOT like thunder and lightning
26.) My 2 favorite ring tones were the bare naked ladies “mahna mahna” and the original Lily Tomlin Laugh in “One ringy dingy”
27.) Veggie tales are the best cartoons- we owned (and watched!) many of them before we ever had kids
28.) My only true talent lies in my ability to remember the words to songs. - I have never found a way to capitalize on it.
29.) I like smooth jazz
30.) I love nutella, marshmallow cream and peanut butter toast
31.) I really like almost all fruits and veggies
32.) I LOVE to try new and different kinds of foods
33.) I like to save turtles when they are trying to cross the road (apparently to get to the other side)

35.) I am a closet trekkie
36.) I am a closet Harry Potter fan
37.) I am afraid of heights
38.) My favorite color is purple
39.) Favorite consistent musician- Chris Rice. right now like Sara Groves, Jason Mraz and Ginny Owens, James Taylor, Trace Adkins and Brad Paisley

I am 4 steps removed from Kevin bacon in 2 different ways: My mentor teacher for student teaching was Bill Cravotta –> who had the actress Britteny Powell as a 6th grade student in Germany-> who was in “That thing you do” with Charlize Theron-> who was in Trapped with Kevin Bacon (2002) Also- I worked with a girl name Kaari Ripeke ->who is married to Maurice Ripeke ->who was in the film “Alamo” (chained to Santiago) with Dennis Quaid->who was in Enemy Mine (1985) with Carolyn McCormick-> who was in Loverboy (2005) with Kevin Bacon
43.) I am fiercely protective of mothers- especially stay-at-home moms! (Better mothers make a better world!!)
44.) I was an Awana leader in CA.
45.) My favorite destination to visit is Austria.
46.) My biggest pet peeve in life is how short faucets are when they are in big sinks and you have to cram your hand up to the top of the sink just to rinse them off.
47.) In high school I won 3rd prize in photography in the California state fair for a self portrait
48.) Life Philosophy- If you are going to plant a tree- make it a fruit tree…same idea in life- why be beautiful, but not useful…nourish the environment and the world
49.) Another life philosophy- It is nice to be important, but much more important to be nice.
50.) I am working hard to reduce my carbon footprint
51.) I have always had a very strong desire to have land and cultivate it.
52.) I have to wear a mouth guard at night because I grind my teeth (and have since I was a little girl)
53.) I am afraid of dentists- to the point I have to be medicated to get a cavity worked on
54.) My Love language is gifts
55.) I love to have the window open so it is cool, but hate to have a fan blowing on me- even turn my vents away from me in the car
56.) Love the cold- dislike the heat. You can always add more clothes, but you get in trouble if you take too much off
57.) I fall asleep very easily and quickly- I have real difficulty in staying asleep
58.) I have a “Buffet Mentality” that extends into many areas of my life. Namely Eating and hobbies- I like to eat a little of everything. Same with hobbies- I will hop from photography to pottery to painting to sewing to quilting to cross stitching to cooking to stained glass to cake decorating- sometimes on the same day
59.) I am a black belt in tae kwon do
60.) The only 2 foods I do not like are cooked peppers and Alfredo sauce
61.) I love spicy food
62.) I LOVE ethnic food )Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese)
63.) I could watch friends reruns all day
64.) I have very strong feelings about the size of the “role models” on TV and the unreasonable expectation it sets for society at large
65.) I am a morning person- sleeping until 7am is sleeping in but could easily be asleep by 830pm
66.) My Favorite Bible verses are Matthew 6:25-34
67.) I own my own actual photograph of an angel (feel free to ask to see it if you ever stop by)
68.) I have 1 sister and 2 brothers- I am the youngest
69.) Favorite Chinese proverb- The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.
70.) I almost went to law school. I got a 156 on my lsats.
71.) I almost went to Texas A&M to be a marine biologist
72.) After we graduated college- We backpacked around Europe for 3 months
73.) I LOVE to travel!
74.) My favorite fresh fruit is Blueberries
75.) I used to be a high school German Teacher
76.) I was a legal assistant in a PI law firm in CA
77.) I was a second grade teacher and a kindergarten teacher at a private Christian school in CA
78.) I met my husband working at Sonic in high school
79.) I am very good with faces- I am equally bad with names
80.) My Ipod has almost 3000 songs on it.
81.) I used to be a Warf rat- that is a deadhead that didn’t take drugs
82.) I swam on the swim team in high school
83.) I was the leader of the Tall Flags squad in High School
84.) I buy Puffs instead of Kleenex- simply because when you wash Kleenex they shred and when you wash puffs they stay in one piece- less mess to clean up;-)
85.) I dislike Ironing
86.) I LOVE being pregnant
87.) I rarely drink soda. The only real exceptions are- I drink root beer when I eat pizza and I drink mountain dew when I eat taco bell
88.) I am VERY sensitive to caffeine. I can not drink anything with caffeine in it after 200
89.) I have very sensitive skin. I can not use most skincare products
90.) I have always had a love/hate relationship with my hair- based largely upon my current haircut
91.) I do not think I am pretty on the outside,- rather plain and goofy looking- but I do think I am pretty on the inside
92.) I believe strongly in lifestyle evangelism- preach Christ always- when necessary- use words~St Francis of Assisi
93.) My Favorite photography subjects are my husband and boys.
94.) My Favorite junk food is anything chocolate-(HoHos)
95.) One of my favorite authors is Robert Fulgum
96.) I am an Alton brown junkie
97.) I have a huge pile of books “to read when I have time”
98.) I have gotten much construction experience thanks to the paradise side of the family
99.) My favorite perfume is Beautiful
100.) I loved Bob Ross (we have the same hair)
101.) I would love to go to culinary school
102.) I think everyone should learn at least one extra language. It increases our sensitivity to other cultures
103.) I speak a little bit of French, Italian, Spanish, and sign a little
104.) I speak German
105.) I love to garden
106.) I love surprises, but not long drawn out ones. i.e. I love gifts, but don’t put them out until I can open them. I can’t stand to have birthday presents out on the table all day if I can’t open them until after dinner.
107.) I have always had a secret desire to sing in a jazz club (think “give me fever”).
108.) My favorite smells are babies, freshly cut grass, fresh strawberries, tomatoes on the vine, and sheets that have been dried outside.
109.) I love to sing, but am not very good
110.) I try very hard not to kill any of God’s creatures. Will even catch a Spider and put it outside. The exceptions are if a fly just will not be caught, or if something is poisonous. ( will kill a black widow)
111.) I used to bite my nails, but haven’t in years
112.) I do not smoke, do drugs and rarely drink.
113.) I love puns and jokes
114.) I love to ride horses
115.) I was a girl scout for more than 9 years

120.) My parents were going to call me Daniel- but didn’t want me to have to put up with the torture of being Danny Thomas
121.) I have traveled all over the world and will never be done
122.) I have been working as a temp employee on and off since 1996. It affords some really interesting assignments including working in the R&D lab of PEPSI, working at a casino, cleaning out an old bank vault and being a mystery shopper.
123.) My eyes change color depending on what I am wearing and/or my mood
124.) A smile is one of the best things you can give. It is almost always returned in better condition than it was given.
125.) I have worn glasses since first grade.
126.) I love sushi

128.) My parents are still happily married
129.) I was a tomboy growing up (I think it helped prepare me to have boys;-)
130.) I am a better person because of my husband!

132.) I love clothes and love to shop, but due to circumstances, have not been able to fill that desire in several years.
133.) I love to be near the ocean
134.) I brush my teeth in the shower. Before I started that habit, I was always getting toothpaste all over my clothes!:-)
135.) I have naturally curly hair and it will not straighten no matter how much it is ironed.
136.) I talk in my sleep
137.) I love being married and being a mom!!
138.) If I ever won the lottery, the first thing I would do is tithe 10%. The second is to buy myself a minivan
139.) I have never owned a new car and probably never will
140.) I am a published writer/poet
141.) My favorite flower is Gerber daisies
142.) I try to perform many random acts of purposeful kindness and am trying to teach my boys to do the same
143.) My ideal job would be getting paid to travel with my family and try out luxury resorts (don’t laugh…someone does it on the travel channel. I keep hoping they will want to do a family friendly version of the show.
144.) Because I am a total chicken, I passed up an audition for Star Trek Voyager (I could have been 7 of 9;-).
145.) I was 17 when I graduated high school and moved away from home.
146.) I used to have a crush on Patrick Swayze (hello- dirty dancing…who didn’t
147.) I love to crank up the air or open a window and have flannel sheets on the bed.
148.) I do not like the news…too doom and gloom. I try to catch cnn.com
149.) I am very involved in my churches MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) group
